Refilling procedure :A black HP ink cartridge is a plastic shell with a piece of sponge in it. The sponge is used to store ink in it. Red Star Ink Refill Kit is a product for refilling your used ink cartridge. Refilling means filling sufficient ink into the sponge so as to reuse the cartridge. There is a sticker on top of the cartridge. For refilling the cartridge, you have to remove the sticker. If you remove the sticker, then you can see small holes. Take ink in the syringe, insert the needle through a hole, so as to just touch the sponge, and slowly inject as much ink as the sponge can absorb. Inject ink only through the hole in which you can see the sponge. After refilling, fix the sticker back. Now your cartridge is ready to use. Do not touch the copper PCB & head/nozzle of the cartridge while refilling. After refilling, If ink leaks through the nozzle, keep the cartridge on a tissue paper/news paper, so that the nozzle of the cartridge touches the paper. The excess ink in the cartridge will be absorbed by the paper. Keep the cartridge in the same position till there is no more leakage. If there is no leakage, then you can put the cartridge in the printer, run the head cleaning utility and then start printing.Sometime ink may not come out properly through the cartridge head after the refilling. It may be due to some block/clogging. In such cases you have to clean your cartridge head. It is easy to clean the cartridge head. Insert the cartridge into the cartridge holder and then suck some ink using the syringe through the bottom of the holder. Then the ink will come out properly.Refilling a dried cartridge will not produce good results.
